Managerless Manchester City are playing for pride as they welcome Norwich City to the Etihad Stadium for the final game of the season having already secured second place in the Premier League with their comfortable 2-0 win at Reading on Tuesday.
The Citizens will still be smarting from their devastating FA Cup final defeat to Wigan last Saturday, a result which proved the final nail in the coffin for boss Roberto Mancini, who was giving his marching orders by the club’s board on Monday evening.
The Italian’s assistant Brian Kidd continues to take caretaker charge, and he will assess the fitness of Kolo Toure and Sergio Aguero ahead of the visit of the Canaries, who both limped off at the Madejski in midweek after suffering knocks.
Elsewhere, rested duo Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic could return to the starting XI, while the likes of Aleksandr Kolarov, Maicon, Micah Richards, Jack Rodwell, Javi Garcia and Edin Dzeko are all pushing for recalls on the final day. Pablo Zabaleta is available again after missing the Reading win through suspension.
Norwich have few injury problems and could name an unchanged team from the one that thumped West Brom at Carrow Road last Sunday to secure their Premier League safety.
The only issues lie with Andrew Surman (knee) and Michael Turner (groin).
