Manchester United could be getting closer to bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, after reports that Real Madrid could consider a money plus Javier Hernandez deal for the Portuguese superstar, reports The
Ronaldo, 28, spent six seasons at Old Trafford, netting 84 goals in 196 games. Since leaving Manchester for Madrid in an £80m deal in 2009, the Portugal star has scored 143 in 132 games, but has complained of feeling unhappy with the Spanish giants in recent months.
The report claims United could be willing to pay up to £65m, but wanted to include fellow Portuguese Nani as part of the deal, however Madrid are only interested in including the highly-rated young Mexican Hernandez.
Hernandez, 24, is also valued highly by Man Utd, meaning such a move could depend on the Reds finding a suitable attacking replacement.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recently insisted that the club do have the spending power needed to bring top quality players to the club.
“Hopefully, the players we bring into the club in the next year or so will be of the quality we need. We’re competitive in the market – we’re not Chelsea or Manchester City in terms of money but we’re competitive.”
