Paris Saint-Germain to make big money move for Man Utd striker Rooney

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make a £100m move for Wayne Rooney, who is considering leaving Manchester United, the Daily Mirror has reported. The Ligue 1 champions will pay a £40m transfer fee and offer Rooney £15m per year in wages on a four-year contract, the same terms as Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, Ibrahimovic has been linked with a return to Italy – specifically, Milan – after just a year in the French capital. And PSG face competition for Rooney’s signature from Monaco, Chelsea and Arsenal, although the newspaper claims the Premier League pair would not be able to match the riches offered by either of the French clubs – but it is not certain Rooney would leave the Premier League for the French top flight however much money is on the table.

Rooney is also keen to establish where he stands in regards to David Moyes, the next United manager, while insisting he never asked to leave Old Trafford – despite claims to the contrary from Sir Alex Ferguson, the outgoing United boss.

The 27-year-old Rooney has been at United since the summer of 2004, quitting Moyes’ Everton after that summer’s European Championships in Portugal. The pair have had a stormy relationship ever since, with Moyes taking legal action against Rooney over comments made in his autobiography.
