Manchester City’s new manager in waiting, Manuel Pellegrini, has promised fans of the former Premier League champions that they will enjoy watching his side in action, according to the
Pellegrini is expected to be confirmed as the new City manager – in succession to Roberto Mancini – after Malaga’s final La Liga game of the season against Barcelona. The Mirror claims Mancini was criticised for his pragmatism, particularly in the Champions League, but Pellegrini has vowed to play good football when he takes up the role at the Etihad Stadium.
“Manchester City have offered me a great project,” Pellegrini said. “Hopefully, it becomes official. If it happens, Manchester City will have a team that will play very good football. City have a great team and a clear plan on how things will develop. This motivates me.”
Perhaps to help towards that end, Pellegrini is expected to make Malaga playmaker Isco his first signing in a deal worth around £20m. And the Chilean has no doubt Isco will suit the Premier League. “ Wherever he goes, he will be a success,” Pellegrini added. “He has tremendous potential and I’m happy that I was able to give him his chance in the first division. He will go as far in football as he wants to go.”
