Zinedine Zidane has lavished praise on Tottenham star Gareth Bale, presumably in the hopes of trying to lure the Welsh Wizard to Real Madrid in the summer, according to The
The 23-year-old looks set to face a summer of speculation relating to his future, with several of Europe’s top clubs monitoring his situation at White Hart Lane.
French legend Zidane, who achieved fan favourite status at the Bernabeu during a glittering five year stay at the Spanish outfit, says that Bale must be considered in the top three players in the world, alongside perennial favourites Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He said: “I’ve been watching Tottenham because Gareth Bale has been playing there. Aside from Ronaldo and Messi, he is the player who has impressed me the most in the world. He is outstanding.
“What has particularly impressed me is that he is consistent. It’s not just been in one or two matches. He is consistently scoring spectacular goals and very important goals. He is very quick, skilful and exciting.
“Of course all the talented players like that can come to Real Madrid. Is he good enough for Real Madrid? Of course. He is more than good enough to play for Real Madrid.”
Spurs are still making the retention of Bale’s skills one of their top priorities when the transfer window reopens in the summer, and Andre Villas-Boas had also earlier stated his belief that Champions League qualification would be enough to ensure the former Southampton star stays in North London.
Spurs failed to reach Europe’s top competition, however, instead qualifying for the Europa League, and Real Madrid are known admirers of the winger.
