Spurs don’t have quality for Champions League says Szczesny

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has stoked the fires in the battle for the top four, claiming that Tottenham are not good enough to finish in the Champions League places, reports the Telegraph.

The 23-year-old Polish international said of the race for the top four: “If we win our next two games it will be enough because either Chelsea or Spurs will drop points because they play each other.

“If you look at Chelsea’s fixtures, they have Tottenham and Everton left and they won’t be easy games. And Tottenham do not have enough quality, so there you go.”

It is not the first time that Szczesny has made disparaging remarks about Arsenal’s North London rivals, whom he once claimed to “hate.”

The comments will undoubtedly add slightly more fuel to the fire of what is already an extremely close contest for Champions League football. Arsene Wenger’s side currently occupy fourth spot on 67 points after Saturday’s 1-0 at QPR and face two matches against relegation-battlers for the run-in in Wigan and Newcastle.

Spurs are currently two points behind Arsenal currently with a match in hand, albeit against Chelsea tomorrow night. The Europa League finalists sit in third on 68 points following their 1-0 win at Old Trafford and face Aston Villa and Everton as well in their run-in.
