Tottenham can compete with EPL leaders insists Villas-Boas

Andre Villas-Boas says that Tottenham Hotspur are in a strong position to compete with the Premier League’s elite, with the club making progress both on and off the pitch.

Spurs’ upturn in performance in recent seasons has seen the club finish in the top four of the Premier League twice out of the last three seasons with another Champions League finish a possibility. Tottenham currently sit fifth in the Premier League table but are engrossed in a tightly-fought battle with North London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for a place in the top four of England’s elite.

And the club opened their new top-class multi-million pound Enfield Training Centre last September to help further player development at the club and enable them to be a top force in the game. And plans for a new stadium for the club down the track are still ongoing. Villas-Boas said of the club’s progression: “The growth is continuing and I know that the owner and chairman are very driven in achieving the club’s aim of building a new stadium.

“I think that this wonderful training ground allows the players to further flourish and develop their game. It also allows us to attract better players; it’s a great environment and a great example to the Premier League.”

Spurs’ quest for Champions League football next season continues tomorrow night with a vital clash at Stamford Bridge against third-placed Chelsea.
