The Gunners have been in excellent form as the season nears its conclusion, winning six and drawing two of their last eight Premier League games to put themselves in pole position to finish in the top four.
But Tottenham Hotspur leapfrogged Wenger’s men with a 2-1 victory at Stoke City at the weekend, meaning victory over relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic on Tuesday is a must for Arsenal.
Wenger said: “Both teams have to go for it, it’s a huge game for both of us. We have been very consistent, we’ve been on a remarkable run and our destiny is in our hands.
“Two months ago our destiny was not in our own hands. Today it is. So let’s finish the job.”
Roberto Martinez’s Wigan also need a win at the Emirates Stadium to keep up their chances of avoiding the drop into the Championship.
But Wenger will be boosted by the return of both Lukasz Fabianski and Kieran Gibbs to fitness as the Gunners attempts to force their way back into the Champions League qualification spots.
