Aguero dismisses Madrid link, says he is happy at Man City

Sergio Aguero has dismissed reports that he could be set to leave Man City, with Real Madrid interested in bringing him in according to The Mirror.

Aguero is on Real Madrid’s hitlist, as they have made “concerted” efforts to bring the striker back to Spain. However, the 24-year-old has reassured City fans that he has no intentions of going anywhere.

Aguero recently split with his wife, who has moved with their son from Manchester to Madrid, and Aguero’s future in the North West has since been cast in doubt.

Following on from City chief executive Ferran Soriano’s statement that he believed Aguero would stay, the former Atletico Madrid star was keen to agree.

He said: “It’s simple. There are always rumours in the summer, all the time. But I’m very happy at City.

“I’ve got three more years on my contract, I’m going to work hard for City and everything else is just rumours. Every player wants to play in big teams that win titles.

“We didn’t win anything but we have won trophies in the last few years, so there is no reason to go.”

Aguero was the man responsible for scoring the dramatic 94th-minute goal which ended City’s 44 year wait for a trophy, snatching the title away from under the noses of city rivals Man United.

He also enjoyed a good relationship with former Man City boss Roberto Mancini, but is also of the belief that “that’s football”, and the players must move forward with their new manager.

“It’s normal and something that happens in football all the time. All we have to do is look at the present, who is coming next, make sure we build things properly for next season. It’s just part of football.”

Aguero signed a five-year contract when he arrived at Man City in 2011, with Atletico Madrid receiving a transfer fee reportedly in the region of £38m.
