Agger a good fit for Barcelona, says Liverpool coach Borrell

Liverpool’s academy chief Rodolfo Borrell has claimed that defender Daniel Agger would be a perfect fit at Barcelona.

Borrell, a former youth coach at the Camp Nou, said: “Agger has the right characteristics to adapt to Barca’s style of play,” according to ESPN. Borrell added: “In a side like Barca’s a defender must have a good pass, make the right decisions and be quick when you lose the ball as well as being good in the air in defence and attack, Agger fulfils all of these qualities.

Since reported Baracelona Thiago Silva has stated that he would like to stay put at Paris Saint-Germain, the Catalans have been on the lookout for a new central defender, with 28-year-old Agger a named linked.

Borrell has also theorised that as all three of Barca’s centre-backs, Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano, are right-footed, signing left-footed Agger would make sense. The Danish defender signed for the Reds from Brondby in January 2006 and has gone on to make 194 appearances, scoring 12 times.
