Arsenal target Grenier to sign new Lyon deal

Reports in France say that Arsenal target Clement Grenier is poised to sign a one year contract extension at Lyon.

The Daily Mirror have claimed that the 22-year-old is ready to sign the deal that will extend his current contract and keep him in France until June 2015. Lyon are unwilling to let the French international leave, wanting him instead to remain at the club for the World Cup in Brazil.

Earlier this month, Grenier said that he had already made up his mind as to which club he wanted to join. “I have made the choice for sporting reasons above all,” the midfielder confirmed. “Arsenal? It could be them. There would be competition for places but you get that at all big clubs and it does not stop me making my decision.

According to L’Equipe, Grenier has sought guidance from his teammates, who have managed to convince him to stay on at the French outfit. Grenier has made 59 appearances for Les Gones, scoring seven goals, and this year made his full international debut.
