Ba could be on his way out of Chelsea

Demba Ba could prove a surprise early casualty of Jose Mourinho’s second coming at Stamford Bridge, according to The Mirror.

The Portuguese manager is keen to sign a new striker for the Blues, with the likes of Andre Schurrle and Edinson Cavani thought to be high on the Portuguese’s wish list.

Stevan Jovetic and Hulk are also on the club’s radar, and returning striker Romelu Lukaku has been promised that he will be given a chance to prove himself at the Bridge. They are also believed likely to make a move for Wayne Rooney if the striker continues with his crusade to leave Man United.

This means that Fernando Torres will be allowed to leave, and Demba Ba faces an uphill struggle to change his new manager’s mind about his future after only five months in London.

Ba signed from Newcastle for a cut-price £7m in January owing to a clause in the Senegalese striker’s contract at St. James’ Park, and so Mourinho sees a healthy profit in doing a deal should the opportunity present itself.

Liverpool head up the Premier League contingent interested in recruiting Ba, while Paris Saint-Germain could also be keen to tempt the 28-year-old back to France, where he began his professional career with Rouen.

Ba has thus far managed just two Premier League strikes for Chelsea since his arrival in January.
