Tottenham Hotspur are understood to have had a bid of €15m accepted for Brazil midfielder Paulinho, but are worried that London rivals Chelsea could make a late offer, according to the Daily
The 24-year-old, who plays for Corinthians, and is currently playing in the Confederations Cup, has confirmed that Spurs had made an offer, and has added that he will wait until after the tournament to discuss a decision with his family, with an offer from Inter also on the table.
Edu, the sporting director at Corinthians, backs up Paulinho’s claim, and says talks with Spurs are at an advanced stage, but he has not said whether there has been any interest from Chelsea.
The Blues have been recently linked, and Spurs appear wary that an offer could be made before any deal is completed, but as things stand, the White Hart Lane club look in a much better position, already being in advanced negotiations, and with the recent addition of Franco Baldini as technical director, who has some contacts in South America.
