Brazil star Paulinho now looks set to complete his transfer to Tottenham, reports Sky
The news comes from the player’s current club, Corinthians, who have confirmed that negotiations are progressing well with the north London club.
Paulinho has been linked with a move to Europe for some time, and Spurs have always been among the clubs considered to be interested in the 24-year-old.
As recently as last week, there was not believed to have been any concrete interest shown from the club, but it is believed now that a £17m bid has been accepted and the player is set to discuss personal terms with Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Former Arsenal star Edu, now director of football at Corinthians, said: “The situation is well underway. We have to agree on some details of the negotiation, so I can’t say he will leave yet, but the negotiations are good.”
Paulinho is currently on international duty with Brazil, and is thus far enjoying an impressive Confederations Cup campaign. He made his Brazil debut in 2011, and was on the scoresheet when England played the 5-time world champions at the Maracana Stadium earlier this month.
