Arsenal and Tottenham’s pursuit of Barcelona star David Villa may have hit yet another snag after the player’s agent insisted that the 31-year-old would also be interested in a move to Italy, reports The
Fiorentina are the Italian club thought to be interested in signing Villa from the Catalan giants, and his agent Victor Onate believes the player may be interested in such a proposition as much as he is in the Premier League.
Onate said: “If he does leave Barca, we are looking for an important project that will allow him to play at a high level. England or Italy makes no difference, as long as the project is good.
“We know the type of project that Fiorentina have in mind. I worked with their technical Eduardo Macia at Valencia. We are good friends and in constant communication. Fiorentina had a good season and they intend to grow even more.”
The north London clubs had previously looked set to do battle in a two-horse race for Villa, but Fiorentina’s emergence into the fray seems to cast doubt over exactly which league he will be competing in next season.
He had appeared set to join Arsenal in January until personal circumstances prevented him from leaving Barcelona, where his family is currently settled.
