Everton line-up move for McGeady

The Scotsman are reporting that Everton have emerged as potential suitors for Spartak Moscow midfielder Aiden McGeady.

The former Celtic man made his move to Russia in 2010 and has impressed in the domestic league with the Krasno-Belye (red and whites) so far, however the Republic of Ireland international has just one year left on his contract there.

Roberto Martinez is hoping to make the 27-year-old his first signing for The Toffees. The deal would see McGeady join the Merseysiders for a fee believed to be around the £4m mark. The attacking midfielder is a powerful runner with the ball who’s driving dribbling style has caused problems both in Russia and in the Champions and Europa Leagues.

However, McGeady is fetching such a small transfer fee because of his contract situation, but also as he has scored just 10 times for Spartak in his three year stay. He netted 31 times in his 185 games for Celtic.
