Fabregas rejects talk of Premier League return

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has insisted speculation that he is due to return to the Premier League is wide of the mark, Sky Sports has reported, as Arsenal and Manchester United are linked with moves for the ex-Gunners captain.

Fabregas originally left Barcelona for Arsenal as a teenager but returned to Catalonia in 2011. The 26-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting XI, however, leading to the suggestion that United could attempt to bring him to Old Trafford to bolster their midfield, or Arsenal could push for a return to the Emirates Stadium.

The player himself has firmly denied he wants to leave his current club. Fabregas said: “I’ve always said that I’m happy at Barca. Whoever says that I’m leaving doesn’t know me and has never spoken with me.

Nor with my agent, because he knows that I don’t want him to talk with other people about me. I’m very private and I don’t even talk about these things with my family. If someone says anything that isn’t that I want to play at Barca, it’s completely absurd.

Fabregas made more than 200 appearances for Arsenal, scoring almost 60 goals from midfield.
