Ferdinand demands Man Utd success despite manager change

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Manchester United cannot use Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure as an excuse for failure this year.

The talismanic centre-back has also gone on to say that his teammates are as hungry as ever going into their new Premier League campaign under David Moyes.

“Obviously the new manager will come in with new ideas, but we have got to be ready and stay on the ball if we want to be successful,” Ferdinand told reporters.

“We’ve got to be focussed on impressing him. But we have also go to keep focus on making sure we are ready for the start of the season, because it’s important that we get off to a good start.”

The Red Devils won the Premier League title under Sir Alex last season. However, they have now got to look to the future following his retirement at the end of the season.

Ferdinand said of his old manager: “He couldn’t have gone at a better time for the club and we’re looking forward to next year.”
