Galatasaray are hoping to land Chelsea midfielder Jon Obi Mikel in the summer, reports The
The Nigerian could link up with former Chelsea team-mate Didier Drogba in Turkey, and indeed the Turkish champions have claimed that they are poised to land the midfielder in a deal expected to cost around £18m.
The club’s sporting director, Bulent Tulun, made a recent visit to London and issued the claim due to his belief that Mikel is ready to turn his back on Stamford Bridge and seek a new challenge.
It is reported that Galatasaray’s financial power, coupled with the prospect of linking up with old friend Drogba, have conspired to turn Mikel’s head and give the situation his full attention.
Mourinho would then be prepared to spend a chunk of Mikel’s transfer fee on bringing in one of a trio of players he has identified as Blues targets this summer.
The players in question are two players he knows from his time at Real Madrid, Sami Khedira and Xabi Alonso, and one from Roma, highly rated striker Daniele de Rossi.
