Attacking midfielder Brett Holman is about to leave Aston Villa after only one season to join Al Nasr of Dubai, Goal.com
Holman, who has 53 caps for Australia, joined Villa from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2012, and his first season with the club became increasingly frustrating.
Initially a regular in the early months, he found first team opportunities extremely limited as the campaign wore on, something which might have led to a willingness to move on and play more frequently.
Furthermore, Aston Villa have already signed five players so far this summer, so if Holman was to remain in the West Midlands, he could to have to settle for a place on the bench throughout the upcoming season.
The move to the UAE was announced by an Al Nasr official, with the club hoping to confirm the signing of the 29-year-old on Friday, after a medical.
Board member Fahad Hadi declared: ‘Brett represents a strong signing for us as he’s an international player who has played in England, one of the top leagues in Europe. He has the qualities that we needed at Al Nasr and, most importantly, he has a lot of experience.’
