Juventus have lined up Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez as insurance if they miss out on Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic, who is wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea, according to the
Tevez has 12 months remaining on his City contract and is one of a number of players for whom the deposed Premier League champions are willing to listen to offers. Javi Garcia, Edin Dzeko and Joleon Lescott would all also be allowed to leave City following the departure of Roberto Mancini.
Fiorentina are said to value Jovetic at around £30m but Juventus are thought to be pessimistic over their chances of winning an auction for the Montenegro international if it comes to that, particularly against the financial might of Chelsea.
The Serie A champions are expected to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid but want another attacking player as well as the Argentinean and have held talks with City for Tevez, believing he would be available for less than Jovetic.
Tevez has been at City since 2009, spending two years at Manchester United before switching to the Etihad Stadium and a year with West Ham following a move from Corinthians, starting his career at Boca Juniors.
The 29-year-old has scored 73 goals in 138 games for City but at one point looked set to leave the club after a row with Mancini that led to Tevez spending time away from the club in his native Argentina.
