Luiz has praise for compatriot Paulinho

Chelsea’s David Luiz has said that his international teammate Paulinho will adapt quickly to English football, with the 24-year-old expected to join Tottenham Hotspur in the coming weeks, reports Goal.com.

Spurs have agreed a fee of £17 with Brazilian side Corinthians, the World Club champions, for midfielder Paulinho, with the transfer expected to be completed after the Confederations Cup, in which the player is currently taking part. And Luiz believes that Paulinho, who’s goal against Uruguay secured a place in the Confederations Cup final, will take to the Premier League, explaining:

“Paulinho is a fantastic player, both defending and attacking. He is complete, so he can come to England. It’s a great moment for him.”

Luiz, meanwhile, who moved to Stamford Bridge in January 2011, was initially criticised for taking too many risks and playing his way out of trouble too often, but has since become an important member of the Chelsea first-team.

Paulinho has impressed for Brazil throughout the Confederations Cup so far, playing in a slightly more withdrawn role than he does for Corinthians. Spurs now look set to make Paulinho their first summer signing, adding an extra option to their midfield, which currently contains Mousa Dembele, Sandro, who’s struggled with injuries, Tom Huddlestone, and Scott Parker, 32.
