Man Utd and Chelsea made to wait by transfer target van Ginkel

Marco van Ginkel could take until next month to decide if he wants to pursue a future away from current club Vitesse Arnhem, the Daily Telegraph has reported, with Manchester United and Chelsea monitoring the Netherlands international’s decision closely.

Van Ginkel, 20, is valued by his club at around £12m and made his senior debut for the national team in November 2012. Chelsea have a close relationship with Vitesse which could tilt the balance in their favour if the midfielder does seek a move away, but that in itself is by no means guaranteed, according to the newspaper.

United scout Jim Lawlor is said to have watched van Ginkel in action for the Netherlands Under-21 side at the European Under-21 Championships, while Ajax have also shown an interest in the player, only to be put off by the price tag.

But van Ginkel is not going to be rushed into a decision, insisting on taking his summer holiday first and admitting he was not even aware of any interest from the Premier League champions. “ My future? Now I have a vacation and I’ll concentrate on that,” he said. “After my holiday, we will see. Maybe.

Manchester United? I didn’t know (about their interest), but I have two more years at Vitesse. It is a club that is growing, so I’m also happy there.
