Chelsea winger Marko Marin has been allowed by Jose Mourinho to join Spanish side Sevilla on a season-long loan, according to Sky
The 24-year-old Marin, who arrived from Werder Bremen last summer for around £7m, made only 16 appearances during his first season with the club, largely due to injury, and the form of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Oscar, who were preferred throughout by both Roberto Di Matteo and Rafael Benitez.
Many of Marin’s sporadic appearances were made from the substitutes’ bench, and he managed one goal, in a 4-1 win over Wigan back in February. In fact he never completed a full 90 minutes for Chelsea last season.
With Chelsea recently announcing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle, Marin’s appearances would have, in all likelihood, been very few and far between. And the German has now agreed to make the move to Spain, to a Sevilla side that have recently sold winger Jesus Navas to Manchester City. And Marin may be being viewed by Sevilla as a temporary replacement for the Spanish international.
