Cagliari’s Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan has said that Southampton have made a ‘very tempting’ offer for his services, reports the Daily
The 25-year-old, who has four caps for his country, admits that Southampton’s offer is the most lucrative that he’s received this summer, and appears interested, but adds that he ‘does not play for the money’. Nainggolan would become the Saints’ second signing so far this summer, after Croatian international Dejan Lovren.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are rumoured to be battling Inter for the signing of the highly-rated Nainggolan, who scored two goals in 34 league matches last season. It now looks as though Nainggolan will have a choice between high wages at Southampton, and the size and status of Inter.
Southampton already have several options in the central midfield position, with Jack Cork, Steven Davis, Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin and James Ward-Prowse all at the club. Pochettino is perhaps targeting more top-flight experience in his team, and possibly sees Nainggolan’s years in Serie A as way of aiding their cause next season.
