Norwich are close to a deal to sign Ola Toivonen from PSV Eindhoven, according to Sky
The news eminates from the Dutch outfit, and could bring an end to the speculation surrounding a potential move to Carrow Road which began at the end of last season.
Toivonen, 26, still has a year on his contract in the Netherlands and believed that the club’s £4m asking price could prove too high for potential suitors, but the Canaries are thought to be close to striking a deal to sign the Swedish international.
PSV director Marcel Brands is the one to have made the claim, but did reiterate that it is not yet a done deal.
Speaking to Swedish newspaper SportBladet, he said: “We never comment on any sums, but we have reached an agreement with Norwich for Ola.
“Now it’s entirely up to him to decide whether he wants to move.
“We start training on Monday, if there is no deal with Norwich then I expect to him to be here. “
The transfer would see Toivonen joining forces with fellow Norwich newboy Ricky van Wolfswinkel, in what some Norwich fans see as an exciting frontline going into the new season.
Toivonen joined PSV in 2009 for around €4 million amid interest from Norwich’s fellow Premier League outfit West Ham, and he has since gone on to make 125 appearances for the Dutch club, scoring 59 goals.
