PSG lining up approach for Tottenham boss Villas-Boas

Paris Saint-Germain are considering an approach for Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas, the Daily Mirror has reported.

PSG are expected to lose Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, despite winning the Ligue 1 title this season, and had turned to Guus Hiddink as Ancelotti’s replacement. However, Hiddink has chosen to stay with Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, while Jose Mourinho, who was also linked with the position in the French capital, signed on at Chelsea.

That has left PSG looking at Villas-Boas, the newspaper believes, with the Portuguese to be offered a £10m-per-year contract to take over from Ancelotti. Backed by the Qatari royal family, PSG are also willing to offer Tottenham the same amount as compensation for letting Villas-Boas leave.

But it is not thought Villas-Boas will cross the English Channel, as he is understood to feel he owes Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy his loyalty after Levy offered Villas-Boas a second chance in the Premier League following his abortive Chelsea tenure.

Levy will not let Villas-Boas leave either, particularly because Villas-Boas’ close bond with Gareth Bale is believed to be part of the reason Bale has remained at White Hart Lane in the face of interest from the continent.
