Tottenham-bound midfielder Paulinho has revealed that Spurs promised that Gareth Bale would not be sold this summer, reports The
The £17m-rated Corinthians star is said to be eager to push through his transfer to White Hart Lane and link up with the Welsh wizard, and is also thought to be looking forward to linking up with Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Paulinho said: “It is important for the team and for the Brazilian fans that at the moment all my focus is on winning the Confederations Cup. But after the tournament is finished I hope it is a deal that can get finalised quickly.
“To play in England for a great team like Tottenham is a dream. What I respect about Tottenham is the ambition they have shown.
“This summer there has been interest in their coach and their best player – and they have been clear they are both not going anywhere.”
The 24-year-old has had an impressive Confederations Cup campaign, and headed the late winner for his native Brazil during their semi-final with fellow South Americans Uruguay earlier this week.
He is now set to feature in the final against Spain before jetting to England to get the deal signed sealed and delivered.
