New Manchester City manager Manuel Pelligrini personally rang Malaga playmaker Isco to advise him to join his side over Real Madrid this summer, The Daily
The two clubs have been involved in a battle to sign Isco throughout the summer. The 21-year-old’s stock has risen by virtue of his performances for Malaga, and during Spain U-21’s victorious European Championship campaign, which impressed many, and Man City and Real have emerged as the front-runners to take him from Pelligrini’s former club.
With Pelligrini being his former manager, Isco may choose Man City, but Real have appeared to be in the driving seat, and have made a bid of £30m for his services. This prompted Pelligrini to phone the player and stress that he will be a vital part of the team were he to come to the Etihad.
The newspaper adds that Real Madrid officials went to Israel during the U-21 Championships and held talks with Isco’s father, and his solicitor. There are now rumours in Spain saying that Isco will join Real on lucrative long-term contract later this week.
City have already made two signings this summer, Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho, 28, and Sevilla winger Jesus Navas.
