Real Madrid will use Spain Under-21 international Alvaro Morata as part of their offer to Liverpool for striker Luis Suarez, the
Liverpool have previously insisted that if Suarez is to leave Anfield, it will be for the full fee stipulated in his contract, believed to be in the region of £40m. That so far has proven too pricey for Madrid, but the La Liga club are willing to offer one of their most promising youngsters in an effort to bring down the price of the Uruguay international.
Suarez over the weekend asked Liverpool to listen to offers from other clubs, insisting that he needs a change of scenery and he wants the Reds to respect his wishes. The former Ajax striker added: “The word of the player is important – if you need a change, you should listen to the player. If I want to sign for another club, Liverpool have to hear the offer. All I ask is for respect for all the things that have been said.”
Morata, meanwhile, is open to leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, particularly if the club buys another expensive, big-name forward, such as Suarez. The 20-year-old confirmed: “If another striker is brought in, I will have to think about what’s best for me and consider leaving. If I go, I would prefer a move abroad.”
Spain’s Under-21 side have reached the final of the European Under-21 Championships thanks in large part to the goals of Morata, who has four to his name in the tournament.
