Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna has played down the transfer talk surrounding him, stating that contract talks with the Gunners are on-going. The French full-back has been linked with a move back to France where Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain were thought to be battling it out for his signature.
“I never said that I wanted to leave the club, but there are some journalists who want to speculate as I have just one year to go. The fact is I am still at Arsenal and I am looking forward to next season.”
Sagna’s six years at the Emirates have, unfortunately for him, coincided with the Gunners’ long trophy drought, which currently stands at eight years. However, the Frenchman believes that Arsene Wenger’s side aren’t far off ending their barren run: “I strongly believe we have the quality to be the best in the Premiership. Look at the second half of last year where we got 26 points from a possible 30.”
