Tom Huddlestone looks set to end his Tottenham frustration with a £5m move to Sunderland, reports The
Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio is determined to beef up their midfield after watching his new club flirt dangerously with relegation last season.
Huddlestone is near the top of his list for such a job, though the former Derby midfielder is also wanted by Premier League new-boys Hull.
The 26-year-old has grown frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities in north London since the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas, and admitted towards the end of last season that he would have to look elsewhere unless games started arriving.
Sunderland, meanwhile, aim to have a whole new team available for selection next season in the hopes of improving on last season’s poor showing, and signing Huddlestone could prove the latest in a long line of new faces at the Stadium of Light.
