Tevez future on the agenda for Pellegrini after Man City confirmation

Manuel Pellegrini will be confirmed as the new Manchester City manager within the next 24 hours, the Daily Mirror has reported – and the future of striker Carlos Tevez is one of the first items on the new boss’ agenda.

The final details of the contract with the former Malaga Coach are being agreed at the Etihad Stadium, the newspaper adds, with the negotiations between City and the Chilean stretching back for a few weeks.

It is the length of his contract with City that is the final point that needs to be agreed upon, with the terms likely to call for a two-year deal and an option for a third. But to show how close to completion the deal is, Pellegrini has been involved in City’s transfer business already this summer, with the club signing Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk.

But it is the next move for Tevez that is expect to command much of Pellegrini’s attention as the former Manchester United forward approaches the final year of his current contract. Tevez, 29, is paid almost £200,000 per week and is due for talks with City’s sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, when the player returns from holiday.

Tevez has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez at Liverpool should the Uruguayan push through his rumoured departure, while Serie A pair Milan and Juventus are both monitoring the situation closely.
