Former England assistant manager Franco Baldini has joined Tottenham Hotspur as technical director. The 52-year-old former Roma general manager has joined Spurs to aid with their scouting and transfer policies.

According to reports in The Independent Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas is keen on the way clubs are run in mainland Europe – the 35-year-old Head Coach worked with a technical director during his successful spell at Porto. Club chairman Daniel Levy is also believed to be a fan of this system, with Frank Arnesen and Damien Comolli having undertaken similar roles at White Hart Lane.
Levy said on the club website: “Franco is extremely well respected in the industry, possessing an extensive knowledge of players from around the world. He will strengthen our football management team, particularly in the field of recruitment, working closely with Andre Villas Boas and Tim Sherwood across all levels on the playing side.”
