Tottenham have set their sights on landing Brazilian midfielder Paulinho after cooling their interest in Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin, according to The
The Corinthians playmaker enjoys a big reputation in Brazil, and was also in the team that defeated Chelsea in last season’s Club World Cup final.
Boss Andre Villas-Boas had managed Guarin during their time together at Porto, and had wanted to bring the Inter star to White Hart Lane, but the club were priced out of a deal with the £21m asking price.
They see Paulinho as a viable alternative and cheaper too, believing they can grab the midfielder for less than his £17m buyout clause.
Shakhtar Donetsk had also been interested in Paulinho after selling Fernandinho to Man City, but have since turned their attentions to Fremio midfielder Fernando.
The Mirror also believes that Paulinho’s arrival could spell the end of time at White Hart Lane for Scott Parker, who is being targeted by Italian outfit Fiorentina.
