Tottenham Hotspur have been told to pay £21m if they want to sign Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin, according to the
Spurs are said to have had a £17m bid rejected by the Serie A side, with Andre Villas-Boas keen to be reunited with the player he knows from their time together at Porto. The newspaper claims Villas-Boas sees Guarin as a replacement for Scott Parker, who will be allowed to leave White Hart Lane this summer.
Parker’s departure would form part of Villas-Boas’ overhaul of the Tottenham squad after missing out on Champions League qualification last season. Emmanuel Adebayor, Jermain Defoe, Tom Huddlestone and Benoit Assou-Ekotto would all also be free to leave the Londoners.
Inter full-back Alvaro Pereira could be Assou-Ekotto’s replacement as Inter, who also missed out on the Champions League, look to make sales in an effort to reduce the impact of not playing in the tournament on their finances.
Colombia international Guarin was part of Villas-Boas’ successful Porto team, winning the Portuguese title and the Europa League under the ex-Chelsea boss in 2011.
