The agent of Marco van Ginkel has revealed that “very positive” talks have taken place between the player and suitors Chelsea, according to The
Jose Mourinho spoke with agent Karel Jansen, who revealed that there has been some very serious discussion over the prospect of doing a deal to take the 20-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
There has been interest in the player from various other quarters, including Premier League rivals Man United, but the Chelsea interest appears the most concrete and would certainly interest the Vitesse Arnhem midfielder.
“‘I have spoken to Jose Mourinho and there have been very serious talks about a deal,” Jansen said.
“There are other clubs interested, but the talks with Mourinho have been very positive.”
The Blues approached Vitesse earlier this month with an enquiry as to the possibility of doing business, but negotiations are thought to have ground to a halt. Despite this, the returning Portuguese manager remains keen to add van Ginkel to the list of signings he is making this summer in a bid to help Chelsea regain the Premier League crown.
The club’s previous £8m was rejected, but it is thought that following the talks between Jansen and Mourinho that the former Real Madrid boss will come back in with a fresh offer which gets much closer to Vitesse’s asking price.
