Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out the possibility of making a move for Porto striker Jackson Martinez, reports Sky
He also said that a bid for Brazil star Bernard was also doubtful. Reports earlier this month said that Villas-Boas was ready to return to former club Porto with a £25m bid to tempt Martinez to White Hart Lane, following an impressive debut season with Porto where the 26-year-old finished top of the Portuguese league’s goalscoring charts with an average of almost a goal per game.
Speaking to Desporto, Villas-Boas simply said: “We don’t want Jackson Martinez.”
Bernard, meanwhile, had also been linked with a move to north London along with national team-mate Paulinho, but Porto are also interested in the attacking midfielder.
Villas-Boas is said to have kept an eye on the 20-year-old, but does not expect to make any firm efforts to bring the youngster to the Premier League, saying: “Bernard’s a player that we monitor like many others, but I think Tottenham will do nothing regarding them.”
