Both Arsenal and Chelsea remain convinced that Man United striker Wayne Rooney can be tempted away from Old Trafford this summer despite claims to the contrary by new manager David Moyes, reports The
Moyes took the opportunity in his first press conference as United manager to assert that the England striker is not for sale and that he wouldn’t be going anywhere, yet interestingly dodged questions when pushed about Rooney’s desire to stay at Old Trafford.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho have refused to give up hope of luring the former Everton starlet to their respective clubs this summer, with Rooney only having two years remaining on his contract at the Red Devils.
When asked whether or not Rooney had explicitly confirmed that he wished to stay at Man United, Moyes responded by saying how well Rooney has been training at the club, prompting speculation that all may not be quite as well as it would seem.
The Mirror also claims that both London clubs have enquired about the possibility of taking wantaway Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as well.
The Uruguayan has been vocal in his displeasure at life in England, which may rule his Premier League suitors out of the chase for his services, but both clubs remain keen in both the 26-year-old Uruguayan and 27-year-old Englishman in the hopes of bolstering their respective squads and attempting to catch the Manchester clubs next season.
