Arsenal will use a buyback clause in the deal that saw Cesc Fabregas join Barcelona to bring the former Gunners captain back to the Premier League, the
Fabregas is said to be considering his future at Barcelona after a frustrating last season. Tito Vilanova, the Barcelona Head Coach, often overlooked Fabregas for the team’s most important matches and the player is thought to be unsure if he fits in to Vilanova’s plans. Fabregas was signed by Vilanova’s predecessor, Pep Guardiola.
Should Fabregas ask to leave the Catalans, Arsenal would be well placed to clinch his signature, as a £25m fee is stipulated in the terms of the transfer that took Fabregas to La Liga in 2011. Barcelona would be reluctant to sell the midfielder, however, after going through lengthy negotiations to sign him from Arsenal in the first place.
Fabregas spent eight years at Arsenal after leaving Barcelona as a teenager, eventually becoming the team captain under Arsene Wenger. He made more than 300 appearances for the north London club, and has gone on to make almost 100 for Barca, as well as winning 83 caps for Spain.
