Arsenal worry over completing Rooney and Higuain deals

Arsenal are fearing being blown out of the water in their bids to sign Gonzalo Higuain and Wayne Rooney. The deal to bring the Argentine striker to the Emirates has stalled and rumbled on past two weeks now and their £20m bid for the Manchester United ace is in danger of being hijacked by some of Europe’s big spenders.

The Daily Star are reporting French high-rollers Monaco and Paris Saint Germain as well as Chelsea are all believed to be tracking Rooney’s situation. Whereas Higuain’s proposed move to the Emirates is in danger of being halted thanks to interest from Juventus and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, after he seemed destined to join the Gunners a fortnight ago.

Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis and manager Arsene Wenger have talked confidently in the build up to the transfer window about being able to compete with football’s biggest names to land players. In order to do this the Emirates bosses have been splashing the cash to complete deals, however the attraction of bigger transfer war chests’ around the game could see the Gunners struggle to secure their targets.
