Ba could make West Brom loan switch

Chelsea are toying with the possibility of allowing striker Demba Ba, signed from Newcastle United in January, to move on loan to West Bromwich Albion this summer, the Daily Express is reporting.

The Baggies took fellow Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku on a season-long loan in 2012-13, however new manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out any chance of the Belgian returning to the Hawthorns. Albion Head Coach Steve Clarke was keen on seeing Lukaku return, instead it appears that Mourinho is willing to let Ba go.

Clarke worked under Mourinho throughout his first spell in charge of Chelsea, between 2004 and 2007, and were known to get along well. It now seems that Mourinho is happy to aid the Scot at West Brom.

Ba has struggled for goals since arriving from Newcastle, after scoring goals on a regular basis in his previous two years in English football, with the Magpies and West Ham United. Despite starting the so-called ‘bigger’ games more often than Fernando Torres in the second half of last season under Rafael Benitez, the Senegalese forward managed just two league goals in 13 appearances.
