According to Spanish newspaper Sport,
New United boss David Moyes is unwilling to allow Rooney to leave, although the proposition of exchanging him for Villa, Spain’s record scorer, and promising youngster Thiago, the Spain U-21 captain, could be difficult to turn down.
Thiago has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer, with contrasting reports over his willingness to leave Barcelona. Villa is rumoured to be the subject of a bid from Tottenham Hotspur, and looks set to move on after Neymar’s arrival at the Nou Camp.. The combined value of Villa and Thiago is thought to be in the region of €26m. In addition, the deal for Rooney is expected to cost around €4m.
Rooney is thought to be considering leaving United after nine years of service, and nearly 150 Premier League goals. While he has denied submitting a transfer request towards the end of last season, aside from Barcelona, the 27-year-old has been rumoured to be target for Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, amongst others.
