Chelsea defender David Luiz is a £35m target for Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, according to the
Jose Mourinho is said to consider Luiz an important part of his new Chelsea – contrary to past claims that the manager was not convinced by the Brazil international – but having played a crucial part in Brazil clinching the Confederations Cup on home soil, including a stunning clearance to prevent Pedro levelling the scores, Luiz is attracting interest from Champions League winners Bayern.
Luiz has this summer also been targeted by Paris Saint-Germain, the newspaper adds, and the former Benfica player spoke warmly of the French club and welcomed their interest – offering encouragement to Bayern that Luiz would be open to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
Guardiola is understood to be a long-term admirer of Luiz – having thought about signing the player for Barcelona in 2011 – but any deal could be complicated by the past history of Guardiola and Mourinho, who regularly clashed during their days on opposite sides of the Clasico, the name given to the Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry.
Chelsea are not thought to want to sell Luiz regardless, with the 26-year-old tagged as a future Blues captain once John Terry leaves the game. Luiz joined Chelsea from Benfica in the winter transfer window of 2011.
