Atletico Mineiro winger Bernard has hinted at the possibility of leaving the Brazilian side for Europe this summer, according to ESPN,
His side are to face Olimpia in the final of the Copa Libertadores this week, and Bernard, 20, has spoken of his desire to win the competition and the possibility of leaving his homeland. He said: “If it’s my last game [for Atletico Mineiro] or not, it will be one of the most important titles in my career.”
Spurs are said to be targeting Bernard, as are Borussia Dortmund and Shakhtar Donetsk. A move to White Hart Lane would see him follow countryman Paulinho, who arrived from Corinthians this summer, and join up with another Brazil teammate, Sandro. Bernard would also face severe competition for a starting berth, however, with Gareth Bale, Lewis Holtby, Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson all at the club, and commanding a place in the team.
Bernard has played for Atletico Mineiro since 2010, and was also part of Brazil’s Confederations Cup squad, making two substitute appearances.
