Yohan Cabaye has insisted his mind is only on Newcastle United despite claims Manchester United are considering an offer for the France international midfielder, ESPN
United are known to be in the market for a midfield playmaker and there have been repeated suggestions they could turn their attentions to Cabaye, who joined Newcastle in the summer of 2011 from Lille. Cabaye has gone on to make more than 70 appearances for the Magpies, wearing the captain’s armband on occasion, and stressed after Newcastle’s friendly win over Blackpool that he was not thinking of anything but his current club.
“I’m just working hard. We have to be focused and ready for the first game on August 19, Cabaye told a local newspaper, the Evening Chronicle. The Newcastle supporters who travelled to Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road also made their feelings clear on the matter, regularly singing songs that urged the club to retain the 27-year-old.
Cabaye added that he was aware of the supporters’ songs and thanked them for their backing. “It’s always nice to hear that, and the fans were fantastic, as they are every time. It was a great moment,” he said, adding: “The feeling in the squad is very, very positive. It’s nice to work in this atmosphere.”
