Cahill adapting to Chelsea life under Mourinho

Gary Cahill is enjoying life at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, Sky Sports has reported, as the England international relishes the new experience of playing for the two-time Premier League title winner.

Cahill joined Chelsea long after the end of Mourinho’s first spell at Stamford Bridge and is one of a number of current Chelsea players to know Mourinho by reputation alone. Only the likes of Petr Cech, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien – who spent last season on loan with Mourinho at Real Madrid – have experienced Mourinho up close in his previous tenure with the Blues.

And thus far, Cahill likes what he sees. “A lot of players at Chelsea now haven’t worked under Jose Mourinho and there’s only a handful who have, so it’s new for the players and the manager, the former Bolton Wanderers defender said, adding: “It’s going to be similar for all the clubs that have changed their manager, getting to know the players. These pre-season trips are ideal for that.

Chelsea have already signed Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel and Germany forward Andre Schurrle but are understood to be in the market for a striker. Having missed out on Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani, Mourinho is believed to be focusing his attention on Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, a move Cahill would welcome.

We all know about Wayne and how good a player he is,” Cahill said of his England teammate. “He’s world class. I’m sure he’ll sort out what he’s doing in the near future.

Transfer windows is just players coming and going,” Cahill added. “Sometimes it’s better when the window shuts and it settles down and you know what squad you’ve got. You don’t know whether things are true or not. We’ve just got to get on with our job and get ourselves fit and get prepared for the start of the season.
