Chelsea on alert as Matic exit expected

Chelsea have been alerted after Benfica boss Jorge Jesus conceded it would be “almost impossible” to keep Nemanja Matic in Portugal.

The Blues have been consistently linked with the 24-year-old after he left Stamford Bridge in 2011. However the young midfielder’s meteoric rise has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest names, with PSG and Real Madrid in the hunt for him this summer as well.

TalkSport are reporting that Benfica looked as though they were going to cling on to their playmaker, but now manager Jesus has declared that he expects Matic to leave this summer.

Matic, who signed for Benfica in 2011 as part of the deal which saw David Luiz go the other way, made 39 appearances for the Reds last season scoring four goals.

The Serbian international will not come cheap however after he signed a new deal with the Portuguese outfit last year, which would have seen him secured at the club until 2018. This latest deal also includes a buy-out clause of around £39m.
