After rumours began to circulate that Bayern Munich were lining up a £34.5m bid for defender David Luiz, Chelsea have insisted that the Brazilian is not for sale at any price this summer, according to the Daily
Blues manager Jose Mourinho said two weeks ago that there was ‘no chance’ of Luiz leaving the club after his future was the subject of speculation. There have been rumours this summer of Luiz being involved in Chelsea’s bid to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, but they were denied.
Despite the Champions League holders now being interested, and an offer of £34.5m being mooted, Chelsea have not changed their stance. Bayern’s new manager Pep Guardiola previously tracked Luiz while he was manager of Barcelona.
The newspaper adds that should the opportunity arise Luiz would be open to joining Bayern, although Barcelona would be his preferred choice. However, as it stands, Luiz is not actively seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge. In his two and-a-half years with Chelsea, Luiz has made 109 appearances, scoring 12 goals, and has been noted for his unconventional style of play.
