Michael Dawson is sure Gareth Bale will be able to ignore the constant transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur and focus on the upcoming Premier League season, the defender has told Sky
Bale has been strongly linked with leaving White Hart Lane for either Manchester United or Real Madrid despite Spurs’ insistence that not only is the Wales international not for sale, but no offers have been made to the club for his services.
And Dawson is sure that his teammate will continue to give his all for Tottenham and build on a season that delivered 26 goals and a slew of individual awards as Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League.
“All you can do is concentrate individually as a team,” Dawson said. “Gaz is a Tottenham player and the manager has come out and said he’s staying, and that’s great news. [Bale] is a great lad, he keeps his head down and the way he has been playing, he is going to have speculation. His performances in recent years have been brilliant and that’s what happens.
“He’ll concentrate and do what he does for Tottenham, and hopefully keep scoring goals. To do what Gaz did last year was sensational, with some of the goals he scored and the points he won for us. He helped us to get to 72 points and I’m sure he’ll be doing that again next year,” the captain added.
